Genesee earned a sweep over Camden this past Sunday. The team finished with a game 1 victory 23-2 and game 2 finished 17-5 victory.
Game 1:
Kaylynn O'Connell led Genesee to a 23-2 win over Camden CC on Sunday, driving in five runs on four hits. Her performance included a two-run home run in the first inning and RBI singles in the fourth and fifth.
Genesee took control in the first inning with a three-run double by Ryan and run-scoring hits from O'Connell, Samantha Hibbs, Kiara Van Der Jagt, and Saedra Leisge. The lead grew in the following innings as Scharfen hit a solo home run and the team added six runs in the fourth, highlighted by RBI doubles from Leisge and Fronterhouse.
The team finished with 21 hits and 10 stolen bases. Scharfen, Hibbs, Leisge, Fronterhouse, and Ryan each recorded multiple hits, while Leisge, Fronterhouse, and Ryan also stole multiple bases.
Fronterhouse earned the win, striking out seven and allowing two hits over four innings. Leisge pitched in relief to close out the game.
Game 2:
Caitlin Ryan led Genesee Community College to a 17-5 win over Camden CC on Sunday, driving in four runs with two home runs. Ryan homered in both the second and third innings after opening the game with an RBI triple in the first.
The Cougars took an early lead in the first inning following Ryan's triple, a Scharfen RBI single, and three Camden CC errors. Genesee extended the lead in the second with Ryan's first home run and an RBI double by O'Connell. In the third, Ryan hit a two-run home run to left field.
Genesee finished with 17 hits and 14 stolen bases. O'Connell, Scharfen, Hibbs, Van Der Jagt, and Milles each recorded multiple hits, while Scharfen, Hibbs, Van Der Jagt, and Ryan all stole multiple bases. The team also drew seven walks, led by O'Connell with two.
Leisge earned the start, striking out three and allowing zero runs on two hits over three innings. Crowley appeared in relief to finish the game.
The Cougars travel to Monroe CC to take on the Tribunes this Wednesday at 3:00pm & 5:00pm.
