BATAVIA, NY… The #13 nationally ranked Genesee Community College men's basketball team defeated the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers 88-71 to advance to the NJCAA Region III men's basketball semifinals.
Scotty Lee had a game-high 30 points and collected 11 rebounds to lead the way offensively for Genesee. Jerry Ortiz had 18 points, with his 6/7 shooting from behind the arch. Keysaun Murray had a double-double, scoring 17 points and collected 10 rebounds. Izick Reaves scored seven points and had three assists. Said Adam had a monster day on the glass, collecting 11 rebounds. Elijah Johnson had seven points, with Nick Rodriguez scoring three, and Talha Aamir had a basket to put the game away.
The Cougars will be playing Mohawk Valley in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon at 1pm, following their 76-75 overtime victory over the Herkimer Generals in their quarterfinal matchup.
