Women's Soccer adds Snyder
On April 1st, Sophie Snyder committed to the Genesee Women's Soccer team for the 2026 season. Sophie is a 5'4" goalkeeper who started 5 years for the Marcus Whitman Varsity girls' soccer team and has recorded 1 goal, 1 assist, and has a save percentage of 88%. For soccer, Snyder was awarded First Team All-Star, Defensive Player of the Year for Finger Lakes, and Connor & Ferris All-Tournament Team. She plays basketball and lacrosse for her school as well where she was awarded the Connor & Ferris All-Tournament Team and Third Team All-Star for Basketball, while also being Third Team All-Star for Lacrosse. Sophie has also received the Baush & Lomb Honorary Science Award. Snyder is on High Honor Roll, partakes in National Honor Society, and Link Club. She also takes college courses while still being in high school and has made Dean's List for both fall and spring semesters. She plans to major in Nursing while attending GCC.
Sophie is Genesee's first ever recruit from Marcus Whitman but not the first from the Finger Lakes area. "Over the last few years, we have gotten a few girls from this area, and they almost always succeed here," stated Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt. This past season, sophomore Brooklyn Vienna and freshman Abby Hall both represent the finger lakes region and were integral parts of the team's success. Brook appeared in 12 games and had 4 goals and 1 assist, while Abby appeared in 19 games with 8 goals and 7 assists. This incoming season, Sophie will be joining Abby Hall, as well as her sister Juliann Hall and fellow teammate Natalie Meeks, all Finger Lakes region players.
Jeff and Assistant Coach Macy have been meeting with a lot of recruits and have some more commitments coming up. The Cougars ended their 2025 season in the National Tournament with a 13-4-2 record, where they ended up 4th in the country overall.
