Women's Soccer adds Palazzo
On January 21st, Mia Palazzo committed to the Genesee Women's Soccer team for the 2026 season. Mia is a 5'5" left outside defender who started 3 years for the Geneseo Varsity girls' soccer team, where she was a captain for her senior season. Palazzo recorded 2 career goals and 5 career assists. She is an Exceptional Senior, a member of the National Honor Society, and a part of the Health Academy. She plays for the GVBBSC Club Soccer Team as well as her school's Varsity swim team and track and field team. She's very active in her community where she coaches younger kids and refs' soccer. Mia plans to major in Nursing while attending GCC.
Mia will be joining the team with a lot of other strong players. "We are recruiting to fill in for the sophomores that we will be losing. We are very defensive minded with our recruiting right now and we were very aware of that when we were seeking Mia out. We knew we would need some strong defenders to fill in for the shoes of Bella, Alicia, and Cayleigh," stated Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt. Bella Thom, Alicia Borden, and Cayleigh Havens were all a part of the cougars incredible four back system, along with freshman Ava Gray. Bella is a two-time All-Conference and All-Region player, as well as an All-American. Alicia and Cayleigh were both some of the toughest marking backs in the nation and proved that in the National Tournament this year. Ava, who will be returning as a sophomore this fall, was All-Conference, All-Region, and All-Tournament team in Regionals and Nationals this past season.
Jeff and Assistant Coach Macy have been meeting with a lot of recruits and have some more commitments coming up. The Cougars ended their 2025 season in the National Tournament with a 13-4-2 record, where they ended up 4th in the country overall.
