BATAVIA, NY… The #8 nationally ranked Genesee Community College women's soccer team's late rally fell short Friday night against the #9 nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks 3-2. It was a battle all game long between two of the top teams not only in NJCAA Region III, but two of the top ten teams in the entire country.
After trailing 3-0 late in the second half, Carly Burgess got Genesee on the board after receiving a pass from Abby Hall. Genesee would get it within one with three minutes remaining as Samantha Bates scored with Isabella Thom getting the assist. The Cougars tried for a late goal at the end of the regulation, but came up short.
The Cougars finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-2-2, and 8-1-2 mark in Region III play.
