BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College men's soccer team fell to the #2 nationally ranked Finger Lakes Community College Lakers 1-0 in the NJCAA Region III North A District Championship game Saturday afternoon.
Both teams would start off scoreless in the opening half; Finger Lakes would get on the board midway through the second half. Genesee had several chances but couldn't find the back of the net. Jonathan Van de Lagemaat made eight saves in the net for Genesee. The Cougars' offense put up four shots on goal.
Making the NJCAA Region III All-Tournament team from Genesee were Kamau Balayi and Jonathan Van de Lagemaat.
Making the All-Region team from Genesee were Noah Ward (3rd team), Deen Puper, (3rd team), Joseph Milner (3rd team), Ruaridth Templeton (2nd team), Connor Okereke (2nd team), Luke Keyworth (1st team), and Elijah Douglas (1st team).
