The No. 3 Genesee Community College men's soccer team defeated visiting Finger Lakes Community College 8-1 on Sophomore Night Oct. 10.
Sam Hall's first of two header goals was the game winner as he collected a team-high five points on the night.
Six other Cougars found the back of the net that included: Hiago Barros de Souza, Hijiri Sano, Philip Melo, Jack Sharman-Dodd, James Lighton and Jose Manoel Cavalini.
Genesee donned pink uniforms on Sophomore Recognition Night, where each second-year team member identified someone from the GCC campus who made a difference or enhanced their college experience.
Fourteen cougars are in their second season and include: Gaurav Cheema, Luke Bayliss, Adam Price, Leo Anthony, Matheus Araujo, Eric Curtis, Ross White, Kyle McMillen, Camilo Pernet Jimenez, Iyad Lablack, Hall, Melo, Sharman-Dodd and Sano.
Genesee out-shot the Lakers 27-5 with 17 finding the target, while also holding an edge in corner kicks at 14-0.
The men's soccer team will host the University of Maine at Fort Kent next on Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. to complete its only three-game home stand of the season.
