JAMESTOWN, NY… The Genesee men's basketball team earned a hard-fought road victory on Monday night, by defeating Jamestown Community College 74-71. The victory propels the Cougars record to 12-9 on the season with a 3-2 record in conference play.
With the score tied at 35 at halftime, the Cougars outscored the host Jayhawks 39-36 to earn their third road victory of the season. The exchanged hands several times over the last ten minutes of the contest as key stops by the Genesee defense secured the victory late.
Jamir Cheek led the way for the Cougars with a team-high 20 points and eight rebounds. Jarett Haines scored 19 points, while Javin Williams scored 13 points. Brandon Speller scored 10 points off the Genesee bench with three rebounds and two assists.
Genesee returns home on Saturday, February 9 to tip-off against nationally-ranked #10 Erie Community College Kats at 3:00 pm. The game will be streamed live on www.geneseeathletics.com and on 90.7FM WGCC's Facebook page.
