SANBORN, NY… The Genesee Community College men's basketball team lost both contests on the weekend as part of the Thunderwolves Classic, hosted at Niagara County Community College. On Saturday, Genesee lost to Lakeland CC 72-71 and dropped a tough contest to Henry Ford College 74-72 on Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars were led offensively on Saturday against the Lakers by Jarett Haines, who scored 20 points while adding five rebounds and two assists. Jamir Cheek added a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Javin Williams and Kevin Major added 11 points each for Genesee.
Sunday, Cheek continued his strong play with 18 points and 16 rebounds to record his second straight double-double. Javin Williams added 16 points with 12 coming from the charity stripe. Jarett Haines scored 13 points and Kevin Major scored 12.
Genesee (9-4) will be hosting Cayuga Community College at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 8. The game will be streamed live on www.geneseeathletics.com
