The Genesee Community College baseball team dropped a pair of road contests to Monroe Community College April 28.
The Tribunes compete at National Junior College Athletic Association Division-II, while the Cougars are at NJCAA D-III. After an impressive 8-2 record in their last 10 games, the Cougars had difficulty regaining the momentum that helped the team recently.
Genesee got within a pair of runs in the second game after Shannon Folkes crossed the plate to make it a 3-1 game in the top of the third inning. The Tribunes got hot in their last two at-bats with nine combined runs to take the matinee contest 13-1.
In addition to Folkes, Jakob MacLeod and Edgardo Jurado also plated hits for the Cougars in the second game, while Justin Taveras hit in the first game loss of 14-0.
The Cougars will be looking to get back on track with a doubleheader at Corning Community College April 30 with the first game scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
