The 2017 Genesee Community College men’s soccer team captured the program’s first National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship, putting together an impressive 20-2-1 overall record which included a 20-game unbeaten streak to end the season. The Cougars were the highest scoring team in the country with 130 goals, and stout defensively putting together 12 shutout efforts. Head Coach Ken Gavin was named the NJCAA National Coach of the Year, and along with assistant coach Josh Carpenter earned the honor of United Soccer Coaches (USC) National Staff of the Year. Members of the team included: Charlie Livesey, Ryan Price, Hijiri Sano, Glenn Holmes, Billy Murphy, Sam Hall, Philip Melo, Tate Dean, Ross White, Iyad Lablack, Ben Wattis, Adam Price, Jack Sharman-Dodd, Matheus Araujo, Narhum Nivillac, Kyle McMillen, Leo Anthony, Joseph Calvert, Camilo Pernet Jimenez, Luke Bayliss, Reyginald Zimmerman, Alejandro Ocampo, Guarav Cheema, Eric Curtis and David Ormiston.
