BATAVIA, NY… As spring turns to summer, Genesee Athletics had a very successful spring semester both on the field and in the classroom as student-athletes from all 13 intercollegiate athletic programs were named to the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) Academic All-Conference team.
All honorees earned at least a 3.30 GPA and a minimum of 24 credit hours during the 2018-19 academic school year and participated in one season of a sport. This academic year saw 15 student-athletes earn a 3.75 GPA or better, 18 athletes earned at least a 3.50 GPA and 14 earned at least a 3.30 GPA. 47 student-athletes in total earned Academic All-Conference honors.
The Genesee men's soccer team had 11 student-athletes made the Academic All-Conference team including Jose Manoel Cavalini, Rodrigo Albuquerque, Hiago Barros De Souza, Ross White, Jack Sharman-Dodd, Kyle McMillen, Philip Mello, Oliver Ardle, James Lighton, Hijiri Sano, and Leo Anthony. The women's soccer team was represented by Autumn Jeffery, Madison Cummings, Miko Yamashita, Katline Cartwright, and Julie Kommer.
Six members of the women's lacrosse team earned Academic All-Conference honors including Lauren Hull, Allison Becker, Mackenzie O'Brien, Diante Scheepers, Ashley Barclay, and Hannah Kirisits. The men's lacrosse team representative was Collin Tolsma. The Cougars volleyball team members that earned Academic All-Conference were Alexis Eighmey, Lyndsey Rowland, Ana Carolina Cerezer Pinto, Grace Zandrowicz, and Kaitlyn VanSkiver.
The Genesee basketball programs was represented by Michaela Curletta, Rachel Meyer, Samuel Kesinro, and Brian Russell. The swimming and diving team had four members named Academic All-Conference including Elizabeth Richardson, Natalie Amico, Ethan Heim, and Ryan Mahaney. The golf team was represented by Matthew McCoy and Brandon Kowalski.
The softball team members that made the Academic All-Conference team were Erin Cappotelli, Carli Marino, Gillian Flint, Brittni Way, Maki Iwami, Emily Kams, and Taylor Stefaniak. John Faynor, Jayson Faynor, and Colin Noeth represented the Genesee baseball team.
