Soccer adds Starowitz
On January 8th, Libby Starowitz committed to the Genesee Women's Soccer team for the 2026 season. Libby is a 5'0" center midfielder who started 5 years for the Byron-Bergen Varsity girls' soccer team, where she was a captain for her senior season. Starowitz recorded 62 career goals and 75 career assists. She is a three-time Genesee Region All-Star, three-time Section V All-Tournament team player, two-time Second Team All-State player, five-time Sectional Champion, and a State Champion in 2024. She plays for the WNY Flash Club Soccer Team as well as interning at the elementary school gym. She's very active in her community when it comes to acts of service and has received the Youth Recognition Award. Libby plans to major in Physical Education while attending GCC.
Libby will be joining the team with a few of her past teammates, Natalie Prinzi and Ava Gray, as well as her older sister, Emma Starowitz. "We love recruiting from Byron-Bergen because the girls always have a winning attitude and will fight until the bitter end for a championship," stated Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt. Natalie was awarded All-Region and Regional Tournament MVP, while Ava was All-Conference, All-Region, and All-Tournament team in Regionals and Nationals this past season. Emma played for the cougars in the fall of 2024 and has decided to come back for the 2026 season to play with her sister. The Cougars have had sets of sisters on the team before, Carly and Chloe Barrett from Forestville and Kiaya and Amara Condidorio from LeRoy. Both of which were on the team when the Cougars' won Regionals in 2021 and went on to the National Tournament. The Barrett's won Regionals back-to-back again in 2022 and took fourth in the National Tournament that year. "We love a sister duo! We're excited to see what the Starowitz sisters can do together, and we have high hopes that they will be incredible additions to the team", said Jeff.
Jeff and Assistant Coach Macy have been meeting with a lot of recruits and have some more commitments coming up. The Cougars ended their 2025 season in the National Tournament with a 13-4-2 record, where they ended up 4th in the country overall.
