Riding a six-game winning streak, the Genesee Community College women's soccer team will head to Jamestown Community College-Olean on Saturday for a Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) matchup with the Jaguars.
Genesee (7-2) is currently receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Poll and the Cougars have not lost a game since Sep. 6.
JCC-Olean (0-5) has gone winless in its first five games and has yet to record a goal this season.
Last time out:
GCC shut out Erie Community College at ECC on Sep. 27. The Cougars won a 6-0 decision. Shawna Adams and Kayla Doyle recorded two goals apiece, Ashley Makowski and Marilyn Leto each added a goal and Maddie Potter made three saves in net.
The Jaguars fell to Niagara County Community College 10-0 on Sep. 27 at NCCC. JCC-Olean was out-shot 45-8 in the contest.
What to watch for:
GCC goalkeeper Maddie Potter is 3rd in the country in save percentage (.938), 3rd in the country in goals against average (0.20) and 3rd in the country in goals allowed (1).
Potter's shut out win at Erie CC tied the career record for most shut out wins at GCC. The current record stands at 11 (Hillary Battles, 1996-97).
Genesee is 5-1 vs. JCC-Olean since 2008. Four of the five wins were shut out victories.
