New National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association polls were released today with the Lady Cougars vaulting to No. 4 in the Women's D-III Poll. The men's team moved up and now hold the No. 7 position in the Men's D-III Poll.
Overall there are only three programs that have both their men's and women's teams currently nationally-ranked and the Cougars are one of those three!
Both Genesee soccer teams went undefeated last week with road wins over Corning Community College and Tompkins-Cortland Community College. While the men's team strung together back-to-back shutouts, the women's team had a shutout of their own while showing resilience in recovering from a 2-0 deficit to pull out a come-from-behind 3-2 win.
The women's team was just one of three to enter the NJCAA's first poll of the regular season as a previously unranked team, while the men's team have been in every poll this season. The women's team is also only one of five ranked teams without a loss or tie.
After a considerable amount of traveling, both teams are primed for a home stand of a half-dozen contests starting with a game against Niagara County Community College, Sept. 13 at 3 p.m. for the women and 5 p.m. for the men. Both contests will be live-streamed from the Richard C. Call Arena Press Box. The games can be viewed via: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/59y5DKH5kFN
