Pair of School Records Set at Day Two of Swimming Championships

FORT PIERCE, Florida: A pair of Genesee Community College swimming records were broken on Thursday night at day two of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championships, and the men's and women's programs combined to reach the podium five more times in relay and individual events.

The women's 200 free relay team of Islelie Silvanie, Heather Farrell, Miranda Dunton and MiKenna Carpenter began the day two finals by setting the school record in the event with a finishing time of 1:48.07 and reached the podium in seventh place. The foursome earned an additional trip to the stand later in the night in the 400 medley relay with a sixth place finish and a finishing time of 4:34.46. Dunton was second individually in the B finals of the 200 free (10th overall) with a finishing time of 2:07.60, Silvanie earned a 15th place overall finish in the finals of the 100 fly (1:12.22) and Farrell finished 15th in the 400 IM (5:55.84).

The men's 400 medley relay team of Thomas Richardson, Jason Woerner, Lyle Wagner and Kyle Podlaski set the school record (3:53.68) and went to the podium with a sixth place finish, and the foursome swam a season-best in the 200 free relay with a finals time of 1:35.16, taking eighth place in the event. Wagner captured a fifth place individual finish, swimming the 400 IM in 4:20.93. Podlaski won the B finals of the event (4:24.27) and earned a ninth place finish.

Day three will begin on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. with prelims and swim the finals at 5:30 p.m.
