The Genesee Community College women's swimming and diving team earned a first place finish at the GCC Harvest Invitational on Nov. 7, beating out Herkimer College and Jamestown CC while the men's team finished in second place behind Jamestown CC and ahead of Herkimer College.
MiKenna Carpenter secured a pair of first place individual finishes for the Cougars, winning the 100 free (1:03.29) and the 100 breast (1:27.09). Heather Farrell also added an individual win, pacing the 100 back with a finishing time of 1:16.74. Carpenter and Farrell teamed up with Alicia Dylag and Miranda Dunton to win the 200 free relay (2:01.13) and Dylag, Farrell, Carpenter and Morgan DeMun won the 200 medley relay (2:19.91).
Lyle Wagner led the men with two wins; topping the 50 free (24.83) and the 100 back (1:05.91) and Kyle Podlaski won the 100 free (54.22). Wagner and Podlaski teamed with Joseph Amico and Jason Woerner to win the 200 medley relay (1:57.10) and Wagner, Podlaski, Amico and Denzel Flowers won the 400 medley relay (4:27.07).
Genesee finished second overall with a combined score of 575. Jamestown CC totaled 631 and Herkimer College finished with a score of 471.
