The Genesee Community College swimming and diving team concluded the 2013-14 season at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Swimming and Diving National Championships last week in Ft. Pierce, FL.
Miah Stevens earned three top-15 finishes on the women's side for the Cougars. She swam to an 11th place finish in the 100 yard free (1:02.06), a 12th place finish in the 50 yard free (28.04) and a 13th place finish in the 200 yard free (2:17.52).
On the men's side, Justin Popp, Dakota Spink, Randi Rudnik and Jason Williams competed in four relay events. The foursome finished 7th in the 400 free (3:42.45), 8th in the 400 medley (4:26.62) and 200 free (1:42.83), and 9th in the 200 medley (1:59.69).
In the individual events, Williams finished 17th in the 100 yard free (52.99) and 23rd in both the 50 yard free (24.03) and 200 yard free (2:01.38).
Rudnik was 18th in the 200 yard breaststroke with a finals time of 2:29.57, 19th in the 200 yard IM (2:14.75) and 20th in the 400 yard IM (4:53.04).
Popp finished 17th in the 1650 yard free (19:10.53), 23rd in the 500 yard free (5:30.04) and 25th in the 200 yard free (2:03.21).
Spink, GCC's lone diver, finished 9th with 236 total points.
The Genesee men's team finished the meet with 235 points (8th place). The women ended the five-day event with 52 points (12th place).
