BATAVIA, NY – The Genesee Community College softball team swept the Finger Lakes Community College Lakers Thursday afternoon, winning 8-0 and 15-4. With the sweep of the Lakers, Genesee moves their record to 3-9 on the season.
In the first game, the Cougars bats came alive. Emily Kams (Medina) pitched a complete game shutout, striking out five Laker batters while giving up only four hits. Oakfield native Anna Kabel (Batavia-Notre Dame) had a 2RBI triple in the first inning. Kabel also finished the day with a single and a stolen base. The complete lineup contributed in the shutout, both offensively and defensively.
The nightcap saw Genesee continue to have contributions from their entire lineup. The defense came up big for Genesee when the Lakers were threatening in the third and fourth innings respectively.
Genesee is back in action on Thursday, April 11 against Region III opponent Jefferson Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.
