BATAVIA, NY… The no.2 ranked Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team dropped their 2019 season opener to no.6 CCBC Essex Knights 14-7 on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights quickly netted the first two goals of the game when Genesee's Jason Chiodo scored the next two to tie the game less than seven minutes in. Then the Knights went off and added five more goals to enjoy a 7-2 lead by halftime.
The Cougars rallied in the second half with Chiodo's hat trick goal. Timothy Martino made the game 9-4 and then Kyle Isaacs scored his first of two goals of the game. Then Essex added four more, for a 13-5 lead by the end of the third quarter.
Isaacs would score his second of the game and then Dante David scored a goal, but in the end, the Knights went on to the victory.
The Cougars (0-1) will start their NJCAA Region III play on Wednesday night at 6:00pm at home against the Monroe Community College Tribunes. The game will be streamed live on www.geneseeathletics.com Fans can use #cougarPRIDE while posting on social media.
