Nine members of the Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team have been named All-Region for the 2013 season.
Named to the All-Region III First Team were attackers Jonathan Gill and Christian Reiller, midfielders Marcus Palvino and Tyler Skowronski, defenseman Jordan McElligott and goalkeeper Brady Lawrence.
Named to the All-Region III Second Team were defenders Pete DiLaura and Bobby Wheeler and midfielder Chris Rabung.
Gill led Genesee with 47 goals in his sophomore season and tallied a total of 63 points, second best on the team. Reiller, a sophomore, scored 47 goals and added 47 assists. His 94 total points were the highest on the team and fifth highest in all of the NJCAA. Palvino, a sophomore, scored 20 goals and added 21 assists for 41 total points and collected 57 ground balls, fourth best on the team. Skowronski scored 14 goals and assisted on seven goals for 21 points. He also tallied 35 ground balls in his freshman campaign. McElligott, a sophomore, was second on the team in ground balls this year with 67. He also scored a goal and had an assist and helped anchor a defense that allowed just 6.15 goals per game. Lawrence, a sophomore, sports the second highest save percentage in the country, stopping better than 69% of the shots he faced. He finished the regular season with 14 wins and 2 losses in goal.
Rabung, a freshman, played in all 17 games this season and totaled 28 points (18 goals and 10 assists). DiLaura, a freshman, led the team with 74 ground balls and tallied 15 points (five goals and 10 assists). Wheeler, a freshman, collected 44 ground balls and started every game this season.
The Cougars are ranked No.2 in the NJCAA National Poll and enter the National Tournament as the #2 seed. They will have a bye until the National Final Four which will be played May 11th and 12th in Garden City, NY at the campus of Nassau Community College.
