BATAVIA, NY… Elizabeth Richardson and Ferran Martinez from Genesee’s swimming and diving teams were named Genesee Athletes of the Week for the week of March 11. Both swimmers had outstanding performances at the 2019 NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Buffalo, NY.
Elizabeth (Libby) Richardson placed 14th in the 200IM final, 14th in the 50 Backstroke, 11th in 100IM final, and 13th in the 200 Backstroke Final individually. Libby along with Natalie Amico, Rayelle Merrill, and Ana Carolina Cerezer Pinto, placed ninth in the 200 Free Relay. The relay team also placed eighth in the 400 Free Relay, taking off 19 seconds off their qualifying time.
Ferran Martinez placed seventh in the 400IM Final and 200 Fly Final as part of the 2019 NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Along with teammates Tyler Stachowiak, Ryan Mahaney, and Brandon Brown, Martinez finished seventh in the 800 Free Relay along with another seventh place finish in the 400 Free Relay Ferran Martinez, Ryan Mahaney, Brandon Brown, and Carlitos Sanchez placed seventh in the 400 Relay final and first in their heat.
