Cougar Athletes of the Week Announced

The Genesee Community College fall teams were all in action collectively for the first time this season last week and compiled a 7-1 record that included a perfect 5-0 on the weekend.

Men's soccer's Ryan Price was selected as the Male Cougar of the Week for leading his team to a 2-0 record last week with four goals and three assists in a pair of shutout road wins. First, Ryan collected one goal and three assists against Corning in a 9-0 win Sept.6 and followed that performance with three goals in a 4-0 win at Tompkins-Cortland Sept.9. The sophomore from England currently ranks 13th in Region III scoring and is tied-11th in goals and tied-10th in assists.

Women's volleyball's Isabella Slocum was selected as the Female Cougar of the Week for leading her team to a 3-1 record with nine set-wins collectively over SUNY Adirondack, North Country and Jefferson on the road - with the team's only blemish to a team that appeared in the most recent national poll. Isabella currently ranks in the top-13 in four Region III statistical categories based on her first week of play. The freshman is fourth in blocks-per-set with a 1.20 average, ninth in hitting percentage with a .267 percentage, 11th in points-per-set with 3.3, and 13th in kills-per-set at 2.33.
